The company “BOSCLIP DISTRIBUTORS” was originally formed by Mr. Joseph James Boseley in 1965 at the height of the “Australian manufacturing boom”. He is best remembered for his prize winning invention of the Bosclip Lawn Barber’n Edge Trimmer, an electrical appliance designed to take the hard work out of trimming lawn edges. He took much pride in the promotion of Australian made products.

Sept 26, 1967, guest speaker, Sir Alan Westerman (Secretary, Dept of Trade) told the NEMA (Aust) Conference that manufacturers should seek to produce new products as far as possible, rather than concentrate on old ones. He added light-heartedly that he was waiting for the electrical industry to produce an appliance which would save him the task of trimming lawn edges with manual tools.

Before the conference was over, Sir Alan was given a demonstration of such an electrical appliance by Mr Joe Boseley – the Bosclip Lawn Barber’n Edge Trimmer.

It is estimated that BOSCLIP has manufactured approximately 1 million BOSCLIP ELECTRIC LAWN EDGERS that are used throughout Australia today.
